Highlights

After we meet up around 9:00, we get on a bus. First, we go to Nagoya Castle, a must-see place in Nagoya, then move to Tokugawa Japanese Garden and its museum, where you may have a nice lunch or grab a bite overviewing the beautiful garden, walk through Culture Street, then Mirai Tower. Meeting Point

At your hotel or Nagoya station

09:00 AM

Nagoya Station

There is a local's favorite meet-up place called Nana-Chan doll. If you go to the Nagoya station, you won't miss it. We can meet up under her legs!

09:40 AM

Nagoya Castle

Nagoya Castle is a must-see spot. Japan was first unified in 1600 by the first Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa. Nagoya Castle is his retired palace. He was born in Aichi and after he fought all the battle and made the foundation of Japanese government, he came back to his hometown to spend his retired period. So, it is one of the most gorgeous palaces and especially inside has undergone a major renovation recently. Paper screens of elaborate works have been open to public.

11:00 AM

Tokugawa Japanese Garden

Then we move to a Japanese garden. Gardens are always well maintained and give you a sense of peace and tranquility. There is a nice restaurant we can have lunch there overseeing the garden. We can walk to the street called culture street, where old traditional houses are kept the way they were and some of the Aichi celebrity used to live there, such as Toyota Sakichi, the founder of Toyota.

01:00 PM

Mirai Tower

After immersing yourself in olden times, we get to a futuristic modern town of Sakae. There is a tower, called Mirai Tower, on which you can overview the whole city of Nagoya, the shopping area is nearby, and if you prefer casual local food, I can take you to Osu Kanmon.

01:00 PM

Sakae, shopping mall.

If you prefer shopping, we can skip Mirai Tower and go to Osu Shopping district.

Ending Point

Sakae, shopping mall.

What to Expect

If you are a first timer, yes, you should see castles and experience Japanese culture, but even if you are not a first timer, you cannot always appreciate what you see or experience without full explanations. That's what I offer here. Nagoya Castle is located in a very convenient place and in a walking distance, you will be able to see Japanese gardens and other related museum. If it sounds too educational, just enjoy eating Japanese popular food and stroll around. I know several good restaurants depending on your preference and budgets. Ask anything you want to know about Japan!

Wonderful day with Eiko

My husband was in Nagoya for business and not wanting to navigate Nagoya alone I arranged a day tour with Eiko. She is a wonderful guide and speaks English like a native. She was able to change our tour route at the last minute to accommodate rainy weather in the morning. She was very well prepared and had a few pages of notes written with graphics about the places we visited. She has a very friendly and open personality and at the end of our day I felt like I had spent the day with a good friend. If I could give her more than 5 stars I would!

Nagoya Golden Tour

Nagoya
8 hours

Nagoya is the 4th largest city in Japan with a population of about 2.2 million. I would like to guide you Nagoya Castle, Osu Kannon Temple, old shopping streets, Oasis21 and Nagoya TV Tower. Nagoya Castle was first built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1612. Afterwards it was burnt down in 1945 and it was reconstructed in 1959. You can see Golden Shachi on the both ends of the top roof. Furthermore the Honmaru (the keep of a castle) reconstructed in 2013 is open to the public, too.
